Guangzhou Digital Media Group, one of China's largest cable network operators, has selected Casa Systems, a worldwide leader in next generation cable edge technology, to expand its broadband communications services to subscribers using the C10G Cable Modem Termination System.

The selection of Casa Systems and the C10G was made because of its advanced system design and technology, its ability to easily scale to support the explosive demand for both IPTV (News - Alert) and residential broadband services and ability to provide timely response to operational questions while delivering high quality, technical support.

Under the terms of the agreement, Guangzhou Digital Media Group will significantly increase its Casa Systems CMTS network and expand its coverage in the city of Guangzhou.

Officials said that this network expansion will help triple the capacity of the C3K's currently installed in Guangzhou Digital Media Group's network to support their rapid growth plans over the next year.

Cable operators, with the help of Casa Systems’ innovative approach are able to cost effectively offer highly scalable broadband services such as IPTV, video-over-IP, interactive gaming, as well as traditional broadband access and VoIP services.

In related news, Entropic's (News - Alert) Broadband Access Ethernet-over-Coax, also known as EoC technology, has been selected by Guangzhou Digital Media Group. Subscribers of Guangzhou Digital Media Group will be offered new premium services like IPTV, broadband connectivity and interactive TV with Entropic’s EoC solution. Guangzhou Digital Media Group will be able to increase its revenue.
