Darsh Digital Selects NDS Solution Suite

Looking to enhance their digital pay-TV service, Darsh Digital Pvt. Ltd., an independent cable operator in India has selected an end-to-end suite of technologies from NDS (News - Alert).

In order to allow its portfolio of services to include additional content, games and interactivity the recent launch of the digital platform provides a great opportunity for Darsh Digital. Darsh is now able to add new functionality and services to its platform, as increased subscriber demand continues to grow, a press release revealed.

Jayant Changrani, country head and general manager, NDS India said in a statement, “In a rapidly growing market, Darsh Digital is positioning itself with a solution that addresses the needs of its subscribers, both existing and new. We are proud to be Darsh Digital’s provider of choice and look forward to supporting it through developments to its service,” he added.

The new platform will incorporate an advanced electronic program guide (EPG), designed by NDS, alongside interactive functionality such as games and services. In addition, the new services will be powered by NDS’ MediaHighway set-top box software and secured by VideoGuard’s conditional access (CAS) to compliment the content offering. Currently carried on the Darsh analogue platform, the current offering will include more than 200 channels. To securely deliver digital content to TV STBs (set-top boxes), DVRs (digital video recorders), PCs, mobile devices and other multimedia devices, NDS uses with the technologies and applications that power pay-TV operators.

Recently, the company showcased various solutions tailored for the Indian digital cable TV market at Satellite & Cable TV India (SCaT) 2011, which was held from October 13th - 15th in Mumbai, India. At the show, NDS demonstrated solutions that can be of great use for existing analogue cable operators and new entrants to the market, enabling them to launch digital TV services with a compelling and differentiated offering.
