Sandvine Wins $4.5 Million Expansion Order from Tier-One MSO

A tier-one North American MSO has awarded Sandvine (News - Alert), a premier provider of intelligent broadband network solutions, with an expansion order for US$4.5 million.

The expansion order includes the purchase of Sandvine’s Network Policy Control system, including the Policy Traffic Switch and the Network Analytics business intelligence product with its patent-pending Real-Time Entertainment Dashboard.

Officials at Sandvine said that the company also added seven new customers during the fourth quarter of 2011, for a total of 44 new customers in fiscal 2011.

We are also meeting the needs of new customers as we continue to lead our market with new customer wins,” said Tom Donnelly, Sandvine COO of Sales and Global Services, in a release.

Customers, with the help of Sandvine’s Network Policy Control solutions are provided with the efficiencies of integrated policy decision and enforcement. The solutions also arm them with leading-edge analytics, for high quality delivery of real-time entertainment applications.

Popular for its compact form factor and industry-leading port density, the PTS 22000 platform of Sandvine is a major component of Sandvine’s Network Policy Control strategy.  

Full contextual awareness of application traffic, per-subscriber usage, user device identification, and network topology is provided by the Sandvine’s integrated hardware and software system. This enables a myriad of solutions for service providers, such as fair-use management policies and tailored, tiered service plans.

Officials said that the implementation of Sandvine’s Network Analytics business intelligence product in this MSO’s network will enable the operator to make critical business decisions by analyzing network data presented in a series of intuitive dashboards.

In related news, Sandvine announced that its network policy control solutions are being leveraged by customers to manage traffic congestion, improve connectivity and enhance subscribers’ Internet experience.
