BSNL and Aksh Optifibre Launch Jaipur IPTV Service

Aksh Optifibre today announced the launch of icontrol, its IPTV (News - Alert) brand, in association with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), in Jaipur, the state capital of India’s desert state of Rajasthan.
 
This will be first IPTV (Interactive and Personalized Television) service in the state and Jaipur city and is set to revolutionize TV viewing. icontrol was launched in Delhi and Mumbai last month successfully.
 
icontrol is a television connection that allows viewers to watch the programs at their convenience with more than 120 channels, and an extensive movie library with Hollywood and Bollywood titles at no extra cost.
 
"BSNL (News - Alert) believes in providing world class telecom and technological services to its customers at a competitive price. Our venture icontrol with Aksh Optifibre fulfils our mission in providing such services to the subscribers. With this partnership, BSNL would help increase the reach of IPTV to six million homes,” said G.K Aggarwal, CGM (Rajasthan Circle) BSNL, while addressing a press conference here.
 
Formed in October, 2000, Bharat Sanchar Nigam is world's seventh largest telecommunications company providing a comprehensive range of telecom services in India, including Wireline, CDMA mobile, GSM Mobile, Internet, Broadband, Carrier service, MPLS-VPN, VSAT, VoIP services and IN Services.
 
Commenting on the launch, Dr. K.S. Choudhari, Aksh Optifibre Limited, said, "Aksh for the first time has collaborated up with BSNL to launch the first IPTV service of the state and the city. The service expands the limited entertainment mediums currently with constrained choices. We are sure that our subscribers will enjoy the Interactivity feature and power of control over TV. We will also launch icontrol in other big cities of Rajasthan within one month."
 
Aksh Optifibre is a large-scale manufacturer of cable and optical fibre. It has one of the world's largest single location manufacturing facilities for Fibre Reinforced Plastic Rods, which goes in to manufacturing Optical Fibre cables.
 
Aksh claims to be the first company to launch IPTV services in India with the largest subscriber base and is already providing IPTV and VOIP services in Delhi and Mumbai, under an agreement with MTNL.
 
Through the recent venture with BSNL, the company plans to roll out and commence its IPTV services to twenty more cities in North India (selected cities in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP (West).

"Second time collaboration with Aksh for launch of icontrol is a step towards fulfilling that commitment"
