Panasonic Unveils Free Angle HDMI Cable

By Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributor

Panasonic (News - Alert) has introduced a free angle HDMI Cable, compliant with Version 1.3a specification and capable of offering 1080p high data transfer speed of up to 10.2Gbps.

The new HDMI cables provide a solution for flat display panel installation and will be available in two lengths: 1.5m and 3m.

With the market trend for extremely flat panel displays, there is a growing need for cables with a free angle plug. As a result, the HDMI Cable has already got a number of takers including a wide range of digital devices, including flat panel display DVD/Blu-ray recorder, digital still cameras, video cameras, home theatre system and others.

Also, as television displays are getting thinner and lighter, the HDMI cable will also increase in demand.

The problem however with current HDMI cables is that 3.5 inches of space may be needed between the panel and the wall to connect the HDMI cable, causing limitations for easy installation.

With the free angle HDMI Cable, Panasonic aims to play leading role in the development of both HDMI enabled devices and HDMI Cables.

The new Panasonic Free Angle HDMI Cable has flexibility of 180 degrees and thanks to the unique construction; the required space for the connection can be minimized to 1.2 inches away from the wall.
