German Cable Television Operator Selects IneoQuest System

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Unitymedia, a cable television operator in the German federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, reportedly has selected the IneoQuest IQPinPoint multi-dimensional video quality management system for their advanced digital video delivery network.

IneoQuest officials said that the IQPinPoint system deployed by Unitymedia (News - Alert) utilizes Cricket QAM probes for monitoring RF signal distribution beyond the edge QAM and IQMediaMonitor probes for head-end and transport monitoring within the core network.

Officials said that with IQPinPoint, Unitymedia is able to monitor in real-time the quality of video throughout the entire delivery network, including hundreds of simultaneous, live digital video traffic flows with remote test and analysis.

Additionally, Unitymedia is also leveraging IneoQuest’s (News - Alert) iVMS video management system, a multi-dimensional video quality management system designed to remotely monitor and automatically troubleshoot video quality issues across the entire network.

“Real-time knowledge of QoS on all TV channels we are providing to our customers in all regions of our networks is an absolute must for my team,” said Frank Fossemer, operation manager Digital TV Platform at Unitymedia, in a statement.

Fossemer said that it is absolutely critical to have video quality performance visibility across all network subsystems especially in the IP-backbone and also on the RF part. With real-time and historical information, the company is able to ensure customer quality of experience.

“IneoQuest’s multi-dimensional network monitoring solution is a key part which helps us to deliver QoS,” he said.

Raphael Burgener, regional sales manager, EMEA, at IneoQuest said that providing objective, at-a-glance video quality metrics across an entire network, including all subsystems, requires more capabilities than traditional monitoring tools can deliver.
“Our IQPinPoint system automatically monitors and analyzes all available TV services simultaneously. With our real-time alarming capabilities, we allow the network operations team to react to issues before the customer may even be impacted.”

Burgener said that with per-channel and per-subsystem ‘five-nines’ program availability reporting, the company is able to provide an easy-to-understand value to the management and also network architectures, which help them to understand where to prioritize improvements to service quality.

IneoQuest Technologies, Inc., a player in the high availability video programming solutions market, is a global provider of advanced quality and service assurance solutions for digital video, serving customers in the telephony, cable, broadcast and network equipment industries worldwide.
