Ensequence, S&T Deliver Interactive TV Applications

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Strategy & Technology (S&T), a specialist in interactive TV playout systems and MHEG-5 middleware and applications, has signed a value-added reseller agreement with interactive television company Ensequence.

S&T's TSBroadcaster carousel playout technology will now be included as a component of the Web-based Ensequence (News - Alert) iTV Manager solution, which is used to scale the volume of interactive experiences and audience reach.

Customers use Ensequence as it helps them to scale interactivity at any pace, and enables every show and every advertisement to be made interactive. This partnership will further enhance the productivity of this solution.

Designed for broadcasters or network operators, TSBroadcaster enables generation of content and signalling for interactive television applications. TSBroadcaster is based on CableLabs (News - Alert) specifications OCAP/tru2way, EBIF/ETV, and the DVB-MHP and MHEG standards and supports remote configuration and operation.

TSBroadcaster is already deployed globally with many major broadcasters and operators and integration with Ensequence’s solution means customers will enjoy efficient and reliable delivery of content.

Implementing interactive television is not an easy task but Ensequence iTV Manager alleviates many of the complexities associated with the process. It enables programmers and distributors to easily and rapidly embed interactivity into a variety of TV shows and advertisements.

In a release, Kevin Hurst, Ensequence director of product management, noted that the solution allows customers to make their video offering interactive for both programming and advertising. This gives a competitive edge to their customers as they can now make their television content more powerful and engaging than before.

Hurst praised S&T technology for its ability to offer a proven carousel system that fits perfectly with their iTV Manager offering. He believes this deal has further strengthened their portfolio as well as their customers' ability to deliver the best interactive TV experiences available today.

“By integrating TSBroadcaster into the Ensequence iTV Manager portfolio, Ensequence is able to enhance the interactive television solutions they provide their customers,” said Ian Harris, general manager of interactive services and applications for S&T, in the release. "TSBroadcaster is known throughout the world as a rock solid playout system, and by incorporating its end-to-end delivery into iTV Manager, Ensequence will give their customers the best possible platform for interactive application delivery."
