Concert Technologies to Launch Demarc Extension Nationwide Brand, Web site
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
Concert Technologies reportedly plans to launch its Demarc Extension Nationwide brand and associated Web site. The Demarc Extension Nationwide defines the standards for a demarc extension.
Federal law mandates that every telecommunications circuit should have a demarc extension. This is the critical cabling and equipment that extends a circuit in the building from the local access provider’s demarcation point to the edge customer’s premises equipment. A large number of circuits are delivered weekly to organizations across the country with each circuit requiring a demarc extension. If there is no standardization of terms and installation practices, there is a risk of negative impact to the delivery, performance and maintenance of critical telecommunications circuits and their access to the internet and other network connections outside of a facility.
According to Dennis Mazaris, developer of Demarc Extension Nationwide and president of Concert Technologies, the lack of industry standards and terms for over three decades has caused confusion, delayed communication flow and issues in overall service delivery. Mazaris said that Concert Technologies has taken the initiative in defining and standardizing a demarc extension, the single most critical cabling component within a facility.
The Demarc Extension Nationwide initiative will standardize the previous confusion within the telecommunications and technology industry. The brand was developed to deliver an exceptional level of nationwide service for the installation and maintenance of demarc extensions, to eliminate management needs and effort by providing all demarc extension services from a single nationwide provider and also to provide concise information to the telecommunications market and facilitate the understanding of specifications and installation practices for the demarc extension.
Demarc Extension Nationwide was developed by Concert Technologies to address the deregulation and associated FCC (News - Alert) regulation that every circuit installed must have a demarc extension due to the separation required between the access provider’s network and the premise at which the circuit is delivered.
The associated Web site will contain information to help solution providers, end users and the industry understand and properly identify what a demarc extension is. In addition, it will define demarc extension and associated terms and include diagrams and configuration options, standardized naming conventions and definitions, demarc extensions history and FAQs, demarc extension nationwide services and manufacture specifications for cabling and equipment for demarc extensions based on circuit type.
