Hughes Surpasses Major Milestone: 500,000 Subscribers to HughesNet

Hughes (News - Alert) Network Systems, LLC, a leading provider of broadband satellite networks and services, has reportedly announced the acquiring of 500,000 plus North American users to its HughesNet broadband services. The high speed broadband services through satellite networks was availed by individuals and business enterprises in North America, who otherwise were depending on slow speed dialup internet services.

“High-speed access is about more than being able to surf the Internet,” said Mike Cook, Hughes senior vice president. “For the millions of homes and small businesses lying within areas of North America that are un-served by cable and DSL providers, satellite broadband is what keeps people connected to friends and family and keeps countless small businesses generating revenue.”

The high-broadband services offered by HughesNet said to have helped the users to reach-out and contact relatives and friends at distant countries, allowed the local residents to access the books in the local library and join distance education classes, perform online researches and shopping and helped most of them to order groceries utilizing online ordering services. The farmers were benefited utilizing the satellite network connection.

According to Cook, the HughesNet satellite broadband services are powered utilizing SPACEWAY 3 satellites that are designed to offer appreciably increased speed, flexibility and value for money to the users. He has unveiled the plans about offering higher speeds and feature rich applications for the user’s convenience.   

“While the government continues to debate the best approach to providing universal broadband access, Hughes is delivering on the promise today and the more than 500,000 subscribers we proudly serve can attest to the difference it has made in their lives and in their communities,” Cook said.

Hughes Network is headquartered in Germantown, Maryland, USA and has sales and service offices all over the world. The company offers broadband satellite products that match the global standards approved by the TIA, ETSI (News - Alert) and ITU standards organizations, including IPoS/DVB-S2, RSM-A and GMR-1. Hughes has shipped more than 2.1 million systems to clients located in 100 plus countries.
