Cablevision Appoints Charles R. Schueler as Communications Head

Cablevision Systems (News - Alert) Corporation, one of the nation’s leading media and entertainment companies has appointed Charles R. Schueler as Executive Vice President, Communications & Community Relations. Mr. Schueler in this profile will continue to serve the organization as its chief communications officer, strategist and primary spokesperson where he will be responsible to supervise all communications, media relations, community affairs and philanthropic activities companywide.
 
Company Chief Operating Officer Tom Rutledge said, “Charlie has been with Cablevision for more than two decades and his professional expertise and keen insight have been a critical element in helping to successfully raise the public profile of the company from a cable television operator to one of the nation’s leading entertainment, media and telecommunications companies. We are fortunate to have a communications executive with such a deep working knowledge of Cablevision and the complex industry issues facing the company’s varied businesses.”
 
Directing the company’s communications on corporate strategy, financial performance and all significant business developments across the corporation is one of the major responsibilities of Mr. Schueler as Executive Vice President. He also has a communications portfolio including oversight of the company’s industry-leading, Optimum (News - Alert)-branded digital video, voice and high-speed Internet services; Rainbow Media’s award-winning national programming networks; Cablevision’s Local Media group, which consists of Newsday Media Group, News 12 Networks and MSG Varsity; and Clearview Cinemas.
 
Since 2001, Mr. Schueler has very well managed media relations activities for Madison Square Garden and its teams and properties. Owing to his vast business acumen he is leading Cablevision’s strategic communications efforts related to the expected spin off of the Madison Square Garden business and will be continuing to do so.
 
Cablevision President and CEO James L. Dolan commented, “Charlie has guided the company’s media and community relations efforts during a period of unprecedented change and growth for the company. This includes overseeing all corporate communications activities relating to Cablevision, Rainbow and MSG for the past 15 years. Cablevision’s community affairs and philanthropic efforts such as company’s support of notable industry events, initiatives and organizations are also looked after by Mr. Schueler. He also checks on larger philanthropic activities including Cablevision’s partnership with The Lustgarten Foundation and the company’s nationally recognized education initiative, Power to Learn. Moreover, company’s community-focused editorials on News 12 are also supervised by Mr. Schueler.
