Riverbed Customer to Speak on Effectiveness of WAN Optimization Solution

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

San Francisco-based Riverbed Technology has announced that Wes Owen, former manager of infrastructure services, HNTB, is going to share his experience with Riverbed (News - Alert) wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions.

He will speak in an interactive session – “Migrating From Tape to Disk-based Back-up and Replication” -- that will take place during Disaster Recovery Journal’s Spring World 2010, at Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, between March 21-24.

Disaster Recovery Journal’s Spring World 2010, “The Path to Global Resilience,” will emphasize on various aspects of business continuity, including data processing, IT, risk analysis, resiliency, communications, crisis planning, awareness training, certification, industry regulations and more.

Owen will talk about how he deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances to build a replication process across HNTB’s 70 remote sites that would allow the organization to quickly recover in the event of a disaster. Owen will elucidate how the firm improved and streamlined its backup and replication processes while accelerating the speed of inter-office data transfers and collaboration with WAN optimization solutions from Riverbed.

In addition, he will talk about how Riverbed Steelhead appliances helped trims costs and bring down the real risk of data loss by significantly improving both recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for disaster recovery (DR) -- a two week back-up backlog of 90 terabytes was reduced to less than 24 hours.

Riverbed Steelhead appliances have helped various organizations to accelerate DR initiatives, as replication has emerged as a preferred choice for more frequent and seamless protection of storage between data centers. Riverbed provides customers a fast, simple and reliable approach to eliminate tapes and optimize backup across the current WAN to the datacenter.

In another article, TMCnet reported that WAN Optimization Solutions From Riverbed Support VMware vSphere 4 Platform.
