Harmonic to Showcase its Portfolio of Cable Solutions at ANGA 2010

Harmonic (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of solutions that help enterprises in delivering live and on-demand video to TVs, PCs and mobile devices, has announced that it will showcase its portfolio of video delivery solutions for cable video service providers at ANGA Cable 2010 conference and exhibition, taking place in Cologne, Germany from May 4-6. At the event, the company will also launch world's smallest 4x4 scalable node, which will be helpful in forward and return path segmentation.

Operators around rely upon the HFC access and digital video processing solutions for delivering real-time, on-demand and converged multi-screen services to TVs, PCs and mobile devices.

At the occasion, Harmonic will demonstrate a number of solutions, including its PWRBlazer node, which is world's smallest 4x4 segmentable platform, and SUPRALink 1550 nm WDM transmission platform that extends reach and lowers the cost of the access network. Harmonic's MediaPrism Convergence (News - Alert) Suite is a yet another offering that the company will showcase at the event, which is leveraged by service providers around the world for content ingest, transformation, distribution and delivery to any device such as TV, PC and mobile.

The digital video processing solutions to be introduced by the company include Electra 8000 MPEG-2/AVC HD/SD universal encoder, a solution that helps in delivery of superior quality high definition video, the ProStream1000 stream processing platform with ACE any-to-any transcoding for up to 20 HD or 80 SD channels in 1-RU, and the ProView 7000 integrated receiver/decoder also.

Harmonic's other solution that will be showcased at the ANGA Cable 2010 is NSG 9000, which is an ultra-dense and versatile universal edgeQAM, and offers compatibility with 'Video On Demand' or 'VOD,' broadcast, cable IPTV (News - Alert), modular 'Cable Modern Termination System' or 'CMTS', DOCSIS 3.0, switched digital video or 'SDV', and edge encryption.

According to Sunil Frida, Director of HFC Solutions for Harmonic Inc, the company continues to drive innovation and help our cable customers to reduce costs while increasing network efficiency, as demonstrated by the introduction of products such as our new 4x4 node which will debut at ANGA. Frida noted that company's dense and scalable solutions for real-time and on-demand applications are selected by the world's top operators to power advanced video services delivered to a growing array of devices, including video to the PC and smartphones.

In March 2010, Harmonic Inc. announced that its digital headend solutions had been selected by 'Orbit Showtime Network' or 'OSN,' a direct-to-home or 'DTH' satellite provider serving the Middle East to power its recently launched high definition or 'HD' video service, which is the first MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) HD service being delivered to multiple countries in the region.
