Comcast Launches High-Speed 2go Nationwide 3G-only Service

Comcast (News - Alert)Corp., a provider of entertainment, information and communications products and services, has launched its High-Speed 2go Nationwide 3G-only service. The services will be offered to consumers in Portland, Philadelphia, Seattle, Houston and Boston as part of the country-wide roll-out of the company's High-Speed 2go services.

Officials at Comcast explained that the High-Speed 2go provides high speed wireless Internet service via wireless data cards. In its capacity as a mobile Internet solution provider Comcast also provides a fourth-generation, or 4G Metro, wireless service and a Nationwide Preferred 4G/3G wireless service.

Besides, Comcast is now adding a Nationwide 3G-only wireless service for customers who require coast-to-coast mobile Internet access. The Nationwide 3G service uses a 3G-only data card that operates on Sprint's (News - Alert)national 3G network which can offer customers nationwide wireless service.

Comcast company sources added that it will offer its wireless services along with one or more of its popular services including Internet, phone and video products. Comcast provides mobile broadband to consumers connecting them to friends, family and business wherever they are and at all times.

'We're excited to offer the new Nationwide 3G-only service plan for High-Speed 2go,' said Tom Nagel, senior vice president and general manager of Wireless Services for Comcast. 'Consumers want mobile Internet access on-the-go and we are continuing to extend the variety of our service offers so that consumers can choose plans that work best for their needs.'

According to Comcast sources consumers will get bundled access to both wired and wireless Internet services sold in the form of a 'Fast Pack'. The special bundled pricing announced by the company will be available for both new and existing Comcast customers. Xfinity Internet customers will receive 3G wireless as an add-on service also.

The Fast Pack Nationwide 3G service encompasses Comcast's 12 Mbps home Internet service and a free Wi-Fi router for mobility besides including an extended coverage in the home and also the nationwide 3G mobile network access.

Comcast develops, manages and operates cable systems and is involved in the delivery of programming content for millions of cable customers, high-speed Internet customers and Comcast Digital Voice customers. Its content networks include E! Entertainment Television, Style Network, Golf Channel, VERSUS, G4, PBS KIDS Sprout (News - Alert), TV One and many other regional sports networks.
