Comcast Renews Cable Contract in Dighton

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Comcast, a provider of cable services and a communications company, announced that it has renewed its cable contract with Dighton’s public access. The announcement was made at the Board of Selectmen meeting.
Comcast (News - Alert) Cable has been offering for families in Dighton with not only cable programming, but also high-speed Internet services and digital phone services in the Comcast Triple Play (News - Alert) Bundles.
Gerry Buckley, senior manager of government relations said that this renewed license of the company’s cable service is to maintain rate stability for Dighton residents. It is also said to provide an ongoing operation budget as well as a capital grant in the amount of $61,000 for new equipment and additional upgrades.
“We can provide more service while maintaining approximately the same rate structure,” Buckley said.
Plans are also in the works for town meetings to be broadcast live. This plan should go into effect by the end of December 2010. Currently, meetings are taped and played back Friday nights.
Founded in 1963 as a single-system cable operation, Comcast today is recognized as a reputed provider of cable services and a reliable communication company. The company is focused on broadband cable, commerce, and content. It has been offering digital services, Internet and broadband phone service, and programming.
Earlier in 2009, Comcast Corporation launched an innovative new service called Fancast XFINITY TV nationally at no additional cost to customers. The service enables customers with an “anytime anywhere” entertainment experience – at home and on-the-go - and enables video content customers to watch online by giving them quick and easy access to thousands of hours of cable TV shows, movies and independently produced content.
