Comcast Launches New Features to Its DVR Service

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Comcast, a provider of entertainment, information and communication products and services, has stated that they have enhanced their DVR service  in Oregon and SW Washington with new features such as remote DVR scheduling, AnyRoom DVR viewing and a upgraded on-screen program guide.
These new features enable customers to quickly, easily and more comfortably schedule, manage, record and watch their favorite programs. The additions will also improve the overall customer experience and make future enhancements – like interactive television – possible and they are part of Comcast's (News - Alert) recent launch of XFINITY TV. Customers can to enjoy more HD, more speed, more choice and more control over their services with XFINITY.
Hank Fore, Comcast’ Regional Vice President in Oregon and SW Washington has commented that their Digital Cable customers in Oregon and SW Washington will see significant value and convenience from these new features. They remain committed to providing their customers with the ultimate TV viewing experience, and AnyRoom DVR, the enhanced DVR functions and new on-screen program guide technology join a long list of value-added features that make watching favorite programming easier and more enjoyable than ever.
The AnyRoom DVR comes with one HD/DVR set-top box as the primary outlet and up to three extra HD set-top boxes that can playback content recorded on the DVR on the primary outlet. Customers can record content on any networked set-top box in the home and watch the recording from anywhere in their home with the AnyRoom DVR service.
Another new feature is the myDVR Manager that allows customers with a Comcast DVR and high-speed Internet service to remotely schedule and adjust their recordings online using Comcast TV Listings. By logging onto the Comcast site customers can make a list of programs they wish to record and/or make changes to their already scheduled list. Also customers with an iPhone (News - Alert) or iPod Touch can remotely schedule their DVR recordings using the Comcast Mobile App.
The Comcast DVR service now has the ability to enable customers to search for program using keywords such as actors, title or director. For instance if a customer wishes to know available content that features ‘Clint Eastwood’ then a search by that word would automatically search for new matches and schedule recordings anytime a Clint Eastwood program aired on any channel.
Comcast also asserted that customers do not need to add equipment to take advantage of these enhancements, which are completely free of charge.
