Alcan Cable Unveils STABILOY Line of Aluminum Alloy Feeder Cables

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Alcan Cable, a producer of aluminum cable for the utility and building industries, has launched its new STABILOY FeederPlex HS XHHW-2 and STABILOY WIDESTRIPE HS XHHW-2 aluminum alloy feeder cable products, the high speed wiring solutions for use in commercial, institutional and industrial building applications.
As stated, these two new products feature a specially designed insulation on the aluminum alloy conductors that allows for fast and easy cable installation without the use of wire pulling lubricants.
"Alcan Cable's new high speed feeder cable products answer the electrical contractor's call for rapid cycle construction products," said Jack Miller, president at Alcan Cable.
"Our FeederPlex HS and WIDESTRIPE HS XHHW-2 cables provide high quality, cost effective and time-saving solutions that deliver real bottom-line savings to the contractor," Miller added.
STABILOY FeederPlex HS XHHW-2 is said to be a unique solution for wire and conduit installations, a factory-produced, color coded for phase identification with a specially designed cross-linked polyethylene insulation that provides up to a 50 percent reduction in pulling force compared to standard paralleled single conductors installed with pulling lubricants. Moreover, the product is said to eliminate multiple reels of cable on the jobsite simplifying materials management and providing distribution efficiencies to the electrical contractor.
Alcan official also clarified about its new STABILOY WIDESTRIPE HS XHHW-2 as a single, phase identified, aluminum alloy cable that features the specially designed cross-linked polyethylene insulation that allows for fast and easy cable pulls by eliminating the application and clean up of wire pulling lubricants. This helps electrical contractors to reduce total installation cost by reducing labor, waste and material expenses.
These two new products are designed to meet the requirements of the Underwriters Laboratories (News - Alert), Inc. standards, and are approved for use in accordance with the recommendations of the National Electrical Code, and is available in a wide range of conductor sizes.
With its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, Alcan Cable has been serving the industry for over 100 years via its seven manufacturing operations - six in North America and one in China. The company is a part of Alcan Engineered Products - a business unit of Rio Tinto, a reputed international mining group headquartered in the UK.
