SMA Solutions Provider uControl Experiencing Growth Across all Business Fronts

uControl, a provider of next-generation home security, monitoring and automation solutions, announced that it is experiencing growth across all business fronts: talent, funding, customers, partners and business infrastructure.

 

In the talent front, the company has bolstered its executive team with the appointment of Tom Chmielewski as vice president of sales and David Costilow as vice president of customer services. Both the new vice presidents will help in accelerating the company’s customer and partner adoption even further.

 

Nearing fifth anniversary, uControl has doubled its office space to house its entire workforce that has doubled recently. This indicates growth in the talent as well as business infrastructure front.

 

According to uControl, the company’s funding has always been private, angels, customers and partners. It was never traditional VCs or institutional funding. This trend still continues.

 

Recently, the company brought in another $3.9 USD Million funding. It is anticipated that this investment will further fuel the company’s momentum, say officials. The company will close this investment round at $9 Million total.

 

In addition, there has been an increase in financial infusion from partners and customers and signed deals. This is a good sign of the market viability of the company.

 

Recently, uControl also announced new cable company customers such as Comporium, Massillion and NewWave, and partners like Ember and SMC Networks (News - Alert).

 

Jim Johnson, president and CEO of uControl, said, “From product development to market deployment, David Costilow brings a wealth of experience supporting and delivering solutions to broadband service providers while at 2Wire, Motive and AlterPoint. David is tasked with delivering and supporting our SMA (News - Alert) solutions with all customers. Tom Chmielewski will be charged with growing uControl’s broadband service provider customer base.”

 

As the new VP of sales, Tom Chmielewski will have the responsibility to bolster company’s sales. Chmielewski has lot of experience in helping high growth companies expand their businesses with broadband service providers.

 

Chmielewski was with Radialpoint (News - Alert) as well as VP Worldwide Sales and Services. At Radialpoint, he tripled their customer base in the US and Europe. He has experience with CTAM where he was a founding member of the Europe chapter. He also held executive roles at BroadJump, through its acquisition with Rackspace.

 

As the new VP of customer services, David Costilow has the responsibility to bolster the company’s customer services. He has more than 20 years of technology and services experience. He has good track record of developing, delivering and supporting solutions that create measurable business value.

 

Prior to joining uControl as VP of customer services, Costilow held various executive and management roles at various technology companies such as Motive, AlterPoint, Oracle (News - Alert), Coopers & Lybrand, and recently 2Wire where he managed the Solution Services team.
