Timbercon Rolls-Out MTP Coupler and Splitter

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Fiber optic product and solution manufacturing company, Timbercon, Inc., announced that it has rolled-out Multifiber Termination Push-on “MTP” coupler/splitters for a wide variety of applications and industries.

The standard MTP coupler is generally found in a 4- or 6-pack MTP adapter panel. It facilitates in connecting two MTP cable assemblies together (male and female). Standard MTP couplers are usually black whereas secure MTP couplers have several different colors in order to match connectors with couplers.

According to Timbercon (News - Alert), it has consistently provided custom MTP solutions for many applications and has now standardized the most common configurations for Coupler/Splitters using ribbonized fiber.

Timbercon Couplers and Splitters leverage precision technology to combine or distribute light from single/multiple inputs to single/multiple outputs. These Coupler/Splitters are used to either combine two or more signals into one, or more commonly, split one signal into multiple paths. In addition, these Couplers and Splitters are designed bi-directionally, thereby enabling the same product to be used as a coupler or a splitter.

Officials with Timbercon said that the company’s standard MTP Coupler/Splitters are available in 1x2, 1x3, and 1x4 configurations with four, eight, 12, or 24 ribbonized fibers. Both multi mode “OM2 or OM3” and singlemode fiber options are available with standard or elite ferrule.

In addition, the MTP Coupler/Splitters can be custom configured for many applications and packaged in individual modules or combined in bench-top or 19" rack-mount configurations.

"The addition of MTP Coupler/Splitters to our standard product offerings is a natural progression," said John Lee Jr., vice president of sales and marketing. "These products are developed to solve a wide variety of customer requirements and enable the use of the high density MTP connector for this technology."

Available with FC, SC, ST, LC, and MU terminations, Timbercon’s Couplers and Splitters are available in a variety of styles, sizes, port configurations, split values, and wavelength specifications, thereby allowing a high degree of flexibility in tailoring the product according to requirements.

Some of the applications of Timbercon’s Couplers and Splitters include telecommunications systems, digital and hybrid video systems, CATV systems, sensors, and more.
