AT&T U-verse, Scripps Networks Reach New Distribution Cable Agreement

Scripps Networks and AT&T reached a new distribution agreement. The company recently announced that it plans to keep popular lifestyle networks HGTV, Food Network, DIY, Cooking Channel and Great American Country (GAC) available to 2.7 million AT&T (News - Alert) U-verse customers.

The channels were restored to the U-verse lineup on Sunday night, less than three days after contract negotiations stalled. However, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

In a press release, John Lansing, president of Scripps Networks, said, “These situations are never easy, and everyone regrets that the viewers were caught in the middle. After the initial impasse, both sides took quick action to work toward a constructive solution. We especially appreciate our loyal viewers and AT&T U-verse customers for their patience.”

Brian Shay, senior vice president of AT&T U-verse, said, “It was important to us on behalf of our customers to come to a positive resolution as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone’s willingness to make that happen, working diligently over the weekend, so the situation wasn’t prolonged, and we thank our customers for their support and patience while we reached a fair deal.”
