Comcast Continues Its Nationwide Rollout of Wireless Data Services

Comcast, a provider of entertainment, information and communications products and services, claimed that it has launched its XFINITY Internet 2go, a high-speed wireless data service, in a press release.

According to the Comcast (News - Alert), the XFINITY Internet 2go is a new, mobile Internet service that provides lightning-fast Internet connectivity on the fastest wireless network when users are out and about. It is available in three options: XFINITY Internet 2go Nationwide Preferred (4G/3G) service; XFINITY Internet 2go Nationwide (3G) service - for coast-to-coast coverage; and XFINITY Internet 2go Metro (4G) service - for access across any metro area.

The new 4G service allows users to stay fully connected to the office while on the go by providing access to e-mail, VPN, interactive multimedia, and high-quality streaming video while within the 4G coverage area. The service is available either as an add-on with one or more of Comcast’s XFINITY Internet, XFINITY TV or XFINITY Voice products.

Rich Jennings, Regional Vice President of the Comcast Mile High Region, stated that Comcast continues to drive innovation in the market whether it’s with video, voice, the Internet or now wireless – all for the ultimate benefit of customers, in a press release.

The Nationwide service plan of XFINITY Internet 2go is available on the company’s 3G network and offers download speeds of up to 1.4 Mbps. Users can use this service from wherever they have a cell phone coverage. The Nationwide Preferred option enables users to enjoy 3G service as well as super fast 4G service based on availability. The service plan boasts of download speeds of up to 3.0 - 6.0 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 1.0 Mbps.

The company claimed that it is also offering the Comcast Nationwide Preferred Mobile Broadband Device that is designed to allow customers to travel between 4G and 3G coverage areas, providing continued service for customers who happen to travel out of the optimal 4G network.

The company asserted that its customers will be eligible for special pricing, with new or existing XFINITY Internet customers receiving wireless service as an add-on for as low as $25 a month for 12 months.
