By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Cable Bahamas, the country's largest provider of broadband and cable TV services, has selected Sigma Systems for next-generation voice and broadband service fulfillment.

Officials with Sigma Systems (News - Alert) said that Cable Bahamas will upgrade its OSS solutions with Sigma Systems’s Device Provisioning Manager. Thanks to Device Provisioning Manager, Cable Bahamas will now be able to simplify activation and management of its voice and high-speed Internet services as part of its upcoming triple-play service bundle, the first such offering from a wholly-owned Bahamian provider

It will also be able to cost-effectively scale as its subscriber base grows and auto-configure and provision business and residential customer-premises equipment, including PacketCable, SIP, DOCSIS 3.0 and IPv6 devices.

“Cable Bahamas has been dedicated to delivering the most advanced IP services to every Bahamian,” said Anthony Butler, CEO of Cable Bahamas, in a statement.

“With Sigma Systems’ Device Provisioning Manager supporting the provisioning, activation and management of our existing services, we will be able to automate our voice and broadband services, and look to deliver new services, such as video, and possibly a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) offering,” said Butler.

Tim Spencer, president and COO of Sigma Systems, noted that over the past year Sigma Systems has been partnering with a growing group of next-generation operators in Latin America and the Caribbean that are dedicated to offering customers the latest service innovations available.

“Cable Bahamas provides another example of the regions’ advancement of IP services,” Spencer said. “By working together, Cable Bahamas and Sigma Systems can continue to bring innovative services to the country.”

Alejandro Couce, Sigma Systems’ head of Caribbean and Latin America region, said that the Sigma Systems goal is to help Cable Bahamas improve its subscribers’ experience and bring service innovations to customers faster than ever before.

Sigma Systems is a major player in delivering advanced IP service fulfillment solutions.

TMCnet in February reported that Tiscali (News - Alert), one of the leading independent telecommunications companies in Italy will deploy Sigma system's Telco Service Accelerator, which will enable Tiscali to quickly provision VoIP and broadband services over both its FTTH and ADSL networks across its customer base of over 700,000 subscribers.
