GENBAND's SAFARI C3 Switching Platform Selected by ImproWare

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

GENBAND (News - Alert), a developer of IP infrastructure and applications solutions, has announced that its SAFARI C3  switching platform for advanced multimedia communications services has been selected by ImproWare AG, an Internet and voice carrier in Northern Switzerland.

With the SAFARI C3 (News - Alert) in place, ImproWare will be able to empower its cable operator customers to offer scalable, simplified and cost-effective delivery of multimedia services. GENBAND’s solution is designed to increase carrier-class network security and privacy and is positioned as the only integrated multimedia communications switch that will incorporate all voice-switching infrastructure components.

“Upgrading to GENBAND’s SAFARI C3 provides our customers with superior performance and reliability, and significantly reduces their capital expenditures,” said Sacha Gloor, ImproWare CEO, in a statement. “Combined with our IDMS provisioning solution, we now have the flexibility to future-proof our voice and multimedia solutions for our customers.  With the help of GENBAND’s services and support, we will also ensure seamless system integration to meet our customers’ performance and functionality requirements.

”GENBAND’s SAFARI C3 will also provide NCS and SIP-based features for residential subscribers, while supporting the deployment of additional services, including SIP trunking, SIP interconnect and IP Centrex.

Offering a single chassis system, the GENBAND offering combines the key high-quality attributes of legacy TDM-based Class 4 and 5 voice switches with the functional components of multimedia networks and distributed IP voice. The highly scalable architecture of the platform enables it to expand service to a wide range of residential and business customers, supporting as many as 250,000 on a single platform.

“We are pleased to support ImproWare as they continue to invest in their state-of-the-art, wholesale European networking services with IP voice and multimedia communications services,” said Pablo Gargiulo (News - Alert), President of Global Sales for GENBAND. “The SAFARI C3 allows ImproWare to significantly enhance their offerings for cable operator customers with a scalable system that introduces new services such as video telephony and fixed-mobile applications, while at the same time reducing total cost of ownership and leveraging initial equipment investments in residential and commercial multimedia infrastructure. Our rapidly growing cable customer base continues to strengthen our leadership position as the leading provider of IP voice and multimedia solutions to the cable market.”

GENBAND plans to showcase the SAFARI C3 at the ANGA Cable Show in Cologne, Germany, May 3-5, 2011. Visitors to the GEBAND booth will also have access to demonstrations on some of the company’s innovative IP-based communications solutions designed to help cable operators increase revenue potential and improve overall subscriber loyalty with advanced voice, mobility communications and multimedia services to meet the growing needs in the global market.

In other GENBAND news, the company reported earlier this year that it planned to launch its Mobile Office at the 2011 Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). Such applications have been powered by the GENBAND A2 Converged Application Server which operates at the mobile core to provide small businesses all the features available on a regular PBX (News - Alert), such as auto attendant console and presence based routing functionality.
