By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

DISH recently announced that subscribers to its Heartland Package or Blockbuster @Home service will now be able to enjoy G-Movies, faith-based streaming movie service from GMC TV. DISH subscribers will now be able to directly stream movies to their mobile devices or television.

"DISH is leading the way with a growing line-up of networks and programs for households seeking value-based television,” said Dave Shull, senior VP of Programming at DISH. “G-Movies provides the best titles for families searching for entertainment that upholds their faith and values and offers uplifting programs every member of the household can enjoy."

G-Movies currently features more than 150 faith-friendly feature films, television series and biblical documentaries, streamed by subscribers via an Internet-connected DISH receiver, or with the DISH Remote Access app to view on a mobile device

Movies can also be accessed through dishonline.com.

"The ratings success of GMC's World Premiere Movies franchise has proven that there is a huge appetite for faith-driven films,” said Charles Humbard, president and CEO at GMC TV. “With that in mind, we created G-Movies as an extension of the GMC brand. As we continue our commitment to expand production of our World Premiere Movies, G-Movies provides a win-win for our distributors and faith conscious consumers who enjoy this genre, providing an opportunity for them to further enjoy quality, faith-friendly, family entertainment anywhere."

At present, 75 million people within the U.S. refer to themselves as "active Christians," according to Simmons Research. An estimated 40.5 million adults within the age-group of 25-54 are keen on viewing faith-friendly and family-values programs. And based on research from Barna Group, approximately 70 percent of faith-friendly consumers are interested in the new G-Movies service.

The Heartland Package from DISH, in addition to featuring G-Movies’ on-demand programs, will include seven family-entertainment networks: GMC TV, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel, PiXL, Baby TV, RURAL TV and RFD TV.

Subscribers to DISH's Blockbuster @Home service will be able to enjoy on-demand programs from G-Movies, and stream children's and family programs featured within the Heartland Package.
