SeaChange International to Demo New System for Cable Providers

By Katie Gatto, TMCnet Contributor

If I said the words SeaChange International (News - Alert), the odds are good that you would think I was talking about an environmental action group, or at least a water park, but I'm not. For those of you who would like to do more than posit guesses about what the company does let me give you a hint; you will be talking about less sharks and more software. SeaChange is one of the largest software companies in the world, ranked in the top 250 as a matter of fact, and they focus most on creating, streaming and cloud-based video solutions for multiple streams. The company prides itself on creating fully monetized video products for customers around the globe, to make the idea of video anywhere, anytime a cost effective one.

Well it looks like the company is getting an upgrade to its service. The management recently announced that it will be demonstrating a new offering. The company's newest offering is targeted at smaller scale cable TV companies. It will allow the networks to send their programming to web connected mobile devices, such as iPads, smartphones and any other mobile device with web access.

The company has chosen to demonstrate the new system at the National Cable Television Cooperative’s Independent Show, an event for television stations and producers. The event will take place between July 22 and the 25. At that event the company will be describing what it has dubbed SeaChange Nitro. The company describes SeaChange Nitro in the following terms, "SeaChange Nitro is a next-generation user interface that enables operators to seamlessly present linear and on-demand subscriber experiences across mobile, PC, tablet and TV screens. Nitro leverages HTML5 for intuitive features and functionality to navigate and manage content and capabilities including catch-up TV, search, recommendations, bookmarking, TV listings and social media." As for its popularity only time will tell.
