Time Warner Cable Deploys ZoneFlex Smart WLANs from Ruckus

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Ruckus Wireless’ (News - Alert) ZoneFlex high-capacity smart wireless LAN (WLAN) systems deployed at Time Warner Cable arena in Charlotte, North Carolina provided high quality Wi-Fi technology for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Ruckus claimed that its WLAN systems bring power and simplicity together for large-scale indoor deployments along with all the requisite capabilities required for places like an arena and those abilities include seamless interoperability, advanced Wi-Fi security, massive scalability, best-in-class performance, robust WLAN management and more.

The new Time Warner (News - Alert) Cable Arena Wi-Fi network replaces a legacy Wi-Fi network with 120+ purpose-built, ZoneFlex high-capacity, indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points. The point feature adaptive antenna arrays that enable the Wi-Fi systems to focus signal to places that demand transmissions and annul any interferences caused by obstacles.

Ruckus is confident that as more visitors carrying smartphones, iPads and other wireless-only devices visit the convention, its enhanced Wi-Fi network would cater to the demands for continuous access and activities like uploading and streaming video, use of games and interactive apps, and surfing the Web.

Ruckus is stated to have labored with Time Warner Cable and its integration partner ARRIS to put in place a high-density, sectorized antenna arrays and also sort out the optimal access points that are capable of narrowly focusing signals and also maintaining visual aesthetics. Because of these efforts the arena where the DNC took place received enhanced capacity where the network is used most, and long-range coverage in other parts of the arena.

The company added that its Smart Wi-Fi products and patented technologies are fully-loaded, fully-capable, and fully-standard and they offer unmatched simplicity, unprecedented reliability, and enhanced coverage at a fraction of the cost of alternatives. They support even the most rigid, latency-sensitive applications offering carrier-level quality and ironclad security to enterprises and service providers everywhere.
