ARRIS SDV Solution Chosen by ABN Cable

Areum Broadcasting Network, one of the biggest independent system operators based in South Korea, recently announced that it has chosen the Switched Digital Video offering from ARRIS Group, Inc. The SDV offering will be utilized by ABN to offer the latest and finest programming to subscribers in SeongNam City. ARRIS SDV offering will augment the measure and visual clarity of ABN’s extremely well-appreciated HD programming services like transmission of global sporting events and VOD offerings.

The CVEx platform, an ARRIS software based video control plane, is the core of the implemented SDV offering. The CVEx platform, which offers accurate congregation of both RF and IP video transport, comprises of a wide range of management, reporting and optimization software, thereby ensuring easy implementation.

ARRIS has custom designed the SDV offering for the local Korean environment. The SDV offering has been incorporated with the local EPG, Middleware and Set-Top-Box (News - Alert) vendor offerings, thereby offering a standardized solution for all Korean cable operators. The ARRIS BEQ offering, a SDV QAM platform that has been extensively implemented across the industry, has also been advantageously utilized by the ARRIS SDV implementation at ABN. Currently, the ARRIS SDV offering is one of the widely implemented solutions in the market covering at least 39 million homes.

The ARRIS SDV offering will be advantageously utilized by ABN's Broadcast TV infrastructure for ensuring further resourceful usage of the RF spectrum. During channel changes, subscribers’ experience is unchanged as bandwidth usage is optimized by the ARRIS SDV server's extremely interoperable software.
