AT&T Allows Users to Share Photos and Online Videos with AT&T U-verse Enabled Apps

By Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributor

AT&T (News - Alert), a communications holding company, has introduced two U-verse Enabled apps which allow consumers to share and interact with content: Twonky Beam, developed by PacketVideo (News - Alert), and Pix & Flix.

AT&T U-verse uses an advanced network, which includes fiber optic2, to bring users advanced digital TV, high speed Internet and digital home phone service.

At AT&T Labs (News - Alert) and capabilities at the AT&T Foundry, developers like PacketVideo can plug the technology into apps and services through open APIs by AT&T. AT&T's approach can efficiently create new ways for customers to interact with their devices and U-verse service.

The Twonky Beam provides users with a simple and familiar way to discover and enjoy Internet videos with tablets or phones and beam them to TV or other media players on thier home network.

Pix & Flix, allows users to share photos with friends and family on the biggest screen in the home, the TV. It allows U-verse TV customers with high speed Internet to share photos stored on mobile devices, to view images on the big screen easily.

"TV is becoming a more interactive experience than ever, and that's reflected in the latest apps to hit our U-verse Enabled Platform," stated Jeff Weber (News - Alert) , president of Content and Advertising Sales, AT&T Home Solutions.

"These apps make it easier than ever to share your favorite photos and videos on a screen that's easy for everyone to gather around and watch. We're excited to work with more developers to deliver more second-screen apps to customers," Weber  added.

These apps utilize the U-verse Enabled platform, and are available to U-verse TV customers with high speed internet access. U-verse TV customers can now subscribe to Screen Pack to get unlimited, instant playback of an extensive library of movies on U-verse TV and across screens.
