Tier-1 Middle Eastern Service Provider Deploys Procera Networks

By Shawn Hebert, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Global intelligent policy enforcement company Procera Networks (News - Alert), Inc. announced today that it has received a multimillion dollar initial order from a Tier-1 multi-system operator (MSO) in the Middle East.

The cable operator chose to integrate the PacketLogicTM PL8920 after determining that the product met its criteria and passed evaluation testing.

The MSO has seen dramatic increases in bandwidth usage on its own network over the past several years, and the majority of revenue from the initial order is expected to be recognized by Procera in the first half of 2013.

Paul Grace, vice president of sales, EMEA at Procera, noted that the operator, among others, is selecting Procera to replace its existing solutions in order to meet growing network demands.

"Converged Fixed/Mobile operators are looking for Intelligent Policy Enforcement solutions that can support both fixed and mobile deployments simultaneously and this requires flexible solutions that can scale performance as well as subscribers and service capacity," said Grace.

The deployment by the operator has evolved to take advantage of the network and subscriber analytics provided by the PacketLogic Intelligence Center. It will use the data to create intelligent charging solutions across both fixed and mobile networks.

Using Procera analytics, the operator hopes to determine the services that are popular with its subscribers, and design new service plans and marketing campaigns for its customers.

Overall telecoms retail revenue in the Middle East and North Africa regions will increase from its 2011 level of $70.3 billion to more than $96.3 billion by 2017, according to Analysys (News - Alert) Mason's latest forecast report.

The operator will also be utilizing Procera's ContentLogic line of products to perform content analytics and offer value-added services to their subscribers.

Procera's ContentLogic product is currently in trials worldwide, and is expected to be made available by mid-2013.
