Cable, Digital Technology Veteran Bob Toombs Joins MDU Business of Lyfe Communications

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributor

As more and more digital devices are being connected through common platforms, integrated entertainment and telecommunications offerings are being developed and offered to end users across the globe at a rapid pace.

Lyfe Communications Inc., a provider of enhanced media and communications services to subscribers through a single broadband connection across various connected home and portable devices, has added Bob Toombs, a seasoned professional from the cable TV and communications arena, to a prime position within the organization.

Toombs will now head the Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) business of Lyfe Communications and concentrate on management and sales of the company.

Combining TV, high-speed Internet and enhanced voice services through a single broadband connection, Lyfe Communications leverages its advanced patent-pending technology to convert usual digital television sets into Internet Protocol (IP) based network solutions that enable subscribers to benefit from a number of innovative offerings.

Some of them are standard-definition TV, HDTV and Video-on-Demand (VoD) services.

The service provides better speed and connectivity, cuts down the operating expenses and fulfills capex requirements.

Claiming an experience of sales and general management in the field of cable TV and computer communications technology over the past 40 years, Toombs previously oversaw the Texas market of Ygnition Networks, a well-known private cable operator (PCO) dedicated exclusively to the multi-family industry, as its SVP of Business Development. Prior to that, he served DirecPath, a company offering its services across southeastern and southwestern United States, as a part of its management team.

Additionally, Bob Toombs established and operated a data communications systems integration firm named Networks, Inc. for a period of 17 years.

“Having seen a lot of changes and trends occur within the industry throughout my career, I find Lyfe’s innovation in technology and far-reaching capabilities outstanding,” commented Toombs. “Their ability to get next generation media and communication services into the hands of underserved MDU markets is very exciting. I’m excited to be working with their strong management team and facilitating the expansion of their MDU customer base.”

“Our MDU business is growing and with plenty of unmet demand already identified, we anticipate this trend to continue,” said Greg Smith, chief executive officer at Lyfe Communications. “In preparation for impending growth, we have brought on Bob to head up our sales and operations efforts in this sector. Highly experienced, we expect that with his skill we will be better able to meet this demand and further grow our geographical presence into other markets yet to be targeted. We are pleased to have him on board and look forward to his contributions in the time ahead.”

In November 2012, Lyfe Communications, Inc. executed a contract to provide increased bandwidth to 17 MDU properties in Texas, California and Utah. The new contract allowed Lyfe Communications to provide services to thousands of new customers.
