Comverse ONE Selected by Caribbean and Latin American Service Provider

By Joe Rizzo, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Comverse (News - Alert) is a company that was originally founded in Israel and now makes its home in Wakefield, Massachusetts. They are a provider of telecommunications business enablement solutions with a customer base spread out in more than 125 countries.

Today on June 3, 2013 Comverse announced that a key Caribbean and Latin American communication service provider (CSP (News - Alert)) awarded them a long term contract. This contract is for licenses and services of Comverse’s flagship Business Support System (BSS).

The name of the CSP was not mentioned in the announcement. The conversion of cable television services to the Comverse ONE platform will allow for decommissioning a legacy solution. This, in turn, completes the migration of all of the CSP's consumer services to a single efficient converged platform.

Making the changeover from the Comverse Kenan BSS solution to the new Comverse ONE Converged BSS solution will create, as the name states, a converged environment. This will provide service continuity across all aspects of the CSP’s quad play business. The quad play includes wireline, wireless, Internet and cable.

In an industry that is developing rather fast, the Comverse ONE BSS solution enables CSPs to evolve in a cost effective manner according to their needs. Existing Comverse Kenan customers can benefit from a proven upgrade toolkit. The upgrade toolkit allows for a smooth evolution to Comverse ONE.

Raman Abrol, the managing director for Caribbean and Latin America at Comverse, said "Comverse ONE Converged BSS was selected because it is field-proven across so many different communication and content product sets. With 18 installations going live globally in the last year alone, Comverse has emerged as a leading BSS vendor in the Caribbean and Latin America. In the forefront of pre-integrated customer-centric care, billing and convergent charging for service providers around the world with convergent offerings."

The CSPs benefit with an extended ecosystem that gives them new openness for connected business enablement and rapid integration of innovations. This can help the CSPs create richer, more personalized user experiences. This support is accomplished through Comverse ONE’s open services based APIs.

This step helps to converge and boost the profitability of 4G wireless, wireline, Internet and cable services leading to the quad play BSS.
