Fluke Networks Introduces New Certification Testers to Speed up Installations

By Frank Griffin, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Fluke Networks (News - Alert) provides network test and monitoring solutions for rapid and accurate deployment while improving the performance of networks and applications. The company has announced a new line of Versiv Cable Certification Testers to provide a faster acceptance for copper and fiber jobs. The Versiv platform has an interchangeable module for copper, fiber and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing with new software innovations.

The combined technology allows installers to perform tests faster with more accuracy, simplified testing set up, planning and reporting. The result is more installations will be performed with fewer mistakes, increasing profit margins.

The Versiv platform is built from the ground up to take a comprehensive look at the entire certification cycle to lower instances in which mistakes are made, thereby increasing the amount of installations that can be performed. The new ProjX management system allows test parameters to be set up for working across multiple jobs and media. It accelerates planning and project setups by giving technicians tools for capturing consistent test parameters. Test can be performed across an entire job or switching between jobs by checking the different projects stored within the Versiv tester.

The tester has an interface with an intuitive touchscreen interface giving detailed project analysis. If the installer finds a problem during the testing process, a to-do list can be created so it can be assessed by installers with more experience. The Versiv Cabling Certification Family lets installers perform:

  • Faster systems acceptance for all copper and fiber certification jobs
  • Manage job requirements and progress from setup to systems acceptance, making sure all tests are completed correctly with ProjX
  • Simplified interface with Taptive for set-up, eliminating errors and speeding up troubleshooting
  • Switch media, testing types or projects without losing your place on the job

Optional wired and Wi-Fi network troubleshooting module is also available.

"When doing cabling installation and certification, the difference between having a job be profitable versus a loss, is often times just a few percentage points…[T]oday's challenges have changed and our customers must improve their agility and reduce errors when working across multiple mediums, codes and projects. The Versiv family is razor focused on helping our contractors profitably manage the complexities that are now part of their new normal," said Jason Wilbur, vice president and general manager of the datacom cabling instillation business unit at Fluke Networks.
