Over the years Comcast (News - Alert) Cable, one of the largest video, high-speed Internet and phone providers to residential customers under the XFINITY brand,  has spent tens of billions of dollars to create a network across the U.S. that makes broadband widely available. Just recently, the company has began to power nearly 3,800 Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspots in the Washington, D.C. area, which enables Xfinity Internet residential customers to enjoy fast wireless Internet access at no additional charge.

This new arrangement allows Xfinity customers to take advantage of fast wireless Internet access whenever they are working, commuting, shopping, dining and socializing at parks, shopping districts, schools, small businesses and more. In addition, Comcast is enabling non-Xfinity Internet customers to access the service for free through Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Users spread across Adams Morgan, Capitol Hill, Chinatown, Dupont Circle, Eastern Market, Foggy Bottom, Georgetown and the U Street Corridor can significantly benefit from Xfinity Wi-Fi. In addition, the new service is also available in locations surrounding the metropolitan areas of Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Silver Spring in Maryland as well as Arlington, Old Town Alexandria, Reston, Manassas and Woodbridge in Virginia.

"Our customers continue to look for ways to communicate and access their entertainment with wireless devices, including the tens of thousands of TV shows and movies available on Xfinity TV platforms," said Alan Clairmont, regional vice president of sales and marketing for Comcast. "Xfinity Wi-Fi gives our customers free access to thousands of hotspots where they can stay connected and surf online anywhere and at anytime."

Apart from offering Xfinity Wi-Fi access, Comcast also provides Xfinity Internet customers with other value-added services at no additional cost, such as the Constant Guard security suite (a $360 value) that includes the top-rated Norton Security Suite, Secure Backup & Share product and IDENTITY GUARD.
