Canada's largest, family owned and operated telecommunications company, Eastlink, has introduced a new Rovi-powered iPad application for an enhanced TV viewing experience.

No matter if you have missed on the special episode of your favorite TV show or cannot remember which of the channels is going to air the latest blockbuster that you longed to watch – the new TotalGuide xD lets you remotely schedule recordings for viewing at a later time and date. In addition, the new app allows you to browse TV listings, explore programs and find what to watch for a personalized TV viewing experience – all from your iPad.

“We continuously talk to our customers about what they want and need. They've told us that they are looking for products that make their lives easier; this is designed to do exactly that,” Eastlink CEO Lee Bragg noted in a statement.

The new iOS app is available in English and French and features user-friendly design, rich content and graphics specifically created for iPad. Developed from Rovi's family of interactive guides, the app is sure to deliver an engaging entertainment experience with its data, images and multimedia.

It supports intuitive search for favorite shows, movies and celebrities. Accompanied with rich graphics and content, the app enables users to review channel listings, view program information, and see recommendations for other programs.

The app also allows users to set recordings for their favorite programs on the DVR through an Internet-connected iPad. For Eastlink customers, the app comes free in the iTunes App Store.

“By powering Eastlink's Remote DVR service and TotalGuide xD, Rovi is helping Eastlink deliver next-generation video services to their customers with the convenience of using mobile devices to access a more enjoyable entertainment experience. TotalGuide xD brings a more personalized search and discovery experience to consumers – making it easier for them to connect to, discover and enjoy their favorite programming,” SVP of Product Sales & Marketing at Rovi Bob Shallow noted in a statement.

Alliance Data (News - Alert) Systems Corporation, a provider of loyalty and marketing solutions, recently announced that its Canadian loyalty business and Eastlink have inked an agreement, which enables Eastlink to issue Air Miles reward miles in Atlantic Canada's four provinces.
