By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

VOLIA, a pay TV operator in Ukraine, recently selected Envivio (News - Alert) Muse transcoders for delivering the latest over-the-top (OTT) Internet TV services. The transcoding offering for VOLIA has been implemented on Envivio’s 4Caster G4 platform. Broadcasting and multiscreen video processing are possible with this high-performance computing application.

Envivio is a provider of software-based real-time and on-demand multiscreen video processing and delivery solutions. Its solutions have been deployed by more than 300 content and service providers worldwide.

VOLIA chose Envivio in order to deal with the needs of present customers, who view content on mobile devices. Envivio will also assist the service provider in delivering VOLIA services beyond its present markets. Currently, a minimum of 1.5 million households across 29 cities in Ukraine avail the VOLIA Smart HD OTT video service, which includes at least 130 channels.

In a statement, Alexander Hnyduik, CTO at VOLIA, said, "We chose the Envivio Muse encoders to power the VOLIA Smart HD service because Envivio offered outstanding video quality and a flexible architecture based on software. This flexibility is important as we integrate our payTV and OTT platforms and serve a larger number of viewers around the country who want to enjoy a more personalized, anytime, anywhere TV experience."

Built-in interfaces to most of the key content delivery network (CDN) and conditional access system or CAS providers are integrated by Envivio Muse transcoders. This integration facilitates quicker time-to-market for OTT video implementations. TV services, which are delivered non-stop over cable, satellite, managed or unmanaged IP networks, will find Muse ideal. TV signals are compressed by Muse to various formats and resolutions, like MPEG-2, H.264 and HEVC orH.265. Muse also features sophisticated functionalities like ad incorporation, audio level fine-tuning, video quality measurement and image processing.

Serguei Lakham, sales director for Russia/CIS at Envivio, said, "Operators around the world choose Envivio software for a variety of video processing needs, including live and on-demand TV delivered in the home or on mobile devices. This deployment with an innovative operator is an excellent example of how our solutions are ideally suited for advanced video delivery to any screen."
