Crawford Media Services Boast a Complete Ecosystem for Digital Video

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Managing Editor

Back in the 80s, when Stallone and Schwarzenegger ruled the big screen and there were fewer than 1000 channels on the small one, Crawford Media Services was developing a reputation as one of the first companies in the world to have a one-stop-shop business model for post-production services. The company was involved in every aspect of media creation for TV, but, as times changed, it reinvented itself around the Internet. Now it boasts a media management division and a creative services division, sporting a complete ecosystem from conception to consumption.

Companies have a great deal of legacy content on video and film, which they need to migrate to digital formats. These companies need to be concerned with preservation, but also with how to archive and manage content once it is digitized. CMS uses a proprietary, Web-based too, Crawford Engage, which is hosted in the cloud. It provides companies with a tool to manage the archive media, and this tool was designed by media pros for media pros. It can be used to generate storyboards, do sound searches using natural language recognition and more.

Crawford’s clients range from the USMC to PBS to ad agencies and more. They can migrate content from over 35 different native formats, including audio, film and video. The company has policies in place that respect the original content, including chain of custody, cleaning and more. The company also offers a public-facing platform, Crawford On-Screen, that can be used to access completed content. With these tools, Crawford really does offer services from conception to consumption!
