Uruguayan Operator TCC Taps Verimatrix to Enhance Multi-Network and Multi-Screen Services

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Verimatrix (News - Alert) announced that leading Uruguayan cable operator TCC has selected the company to provide robust revenue security for the company’s multi-network and multi-screen service offering.

TCC has deployed Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to meet the demands arising out of its recent expansion that included the addition of new TCC Vivo over-the-top (OTT) video on demand (VoD) service.

The partnership between TCC and Verimatrix confirms the growing popularity of hybrid network configurations in Latin American pay-TV market. Verimatrix helps these operators execute their multi-screen strategies by enabling them to cast a much wider net with their service offerings, company officials said.

The VoD service is delivered through Kaon's DVB hybrid set top boxes (DVB-C+OTT) running on Zenterio's independent operating system, "Zenterio OS," for interactive TV; these services are accessible through smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs.

TCC was looking for a revenue security solution that can enable content delivery and monetization spanning multiple networks, and managed from a single security authority. The operator found Verimatrix VCAS as the ideal solution as it provided TCC with a unified security for its networks including the hybrid DVB-C+OTT network.

The cable operator also leverages other solutions from Verimatrix including VCAS for IPTV (News - Alert), VCAS for Internet TV and VCAS for DVB -- to provide multi-network revenue security from a common key management platform for its array of services.

"TCC is dedicated to delivering content, no matter what network is needed and no matter which device is preferred by the subscriber," said Javier Ruete, CEO, TCC, in a statement."Verimatrix helps us achieve this vision by providing us with the revenue security solutions we need to protect both our current multi-screen offering, and any additional services or applications we add in the future.”

In addition to providing TCC with a unified security solution, VCAS protects video services to the broadest range of screens and across multiple network types, including both broadcast (linear) and on-demand delivery modes. Verimatrix’s enhanced HLS security incorporates advanced protection technologies otherwise only found in managed IPTV and DVB pay-TV systems, facilitating licensing of premium content.
