SpeedCast (News - Alert), one of the world's major international satellite telecommunications service providers, has announced unifying of its brand to create a single new force with a top five position in the industry.

Since embarking on its global expansion two years ago, SpeedCast has acquired other established satellite industry players, Australian Satellite Communications, Pactel International and Elektrikom Satellite Services.

"We already have leadership market positions in Asia Pacific for land VSAT services - as well as globally for maritime - and the time has come to deliver on our vision of becoming a true global leader by taking this next step forward," said Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast, in a statement.

“We are proud of our heritage in Asia and our commitment to Asia remains total and passionate. But in our dynamic growth process we have developed global experience and capability and today's announcement is all about positioning the company as a true world player - to the benefit of all of our customers in particular and to the market worldwide,” said Beylier.

SpeedCast offers a vast range of services across satellite technology, including broadband services, managed network services and value added services such as VOIP and WAN optimization. The company’s maritime business is a new emerging force in with a leadership position in Asia and growing momentum in Europe.

Beylier said that maritime is typical of the SpeedCast commitment to world class customer service and delivery.

"We take a consultative approach, working with our customers to help them select the best solutions available based on their requirements. We are technology and frequency agnostic and operate the largest suite of solutions to give us all the options possible,” he said.

Beylier said that this approach is being developed for the customers across all the company’s markets and segments as the company move towards making SpeedCast the "go to" organization for all aspects of satellite communications, wherever they are.

Earlier in November, SpeedCast had announced the launch of new expanded coverage for its global VSAT maritime network in the Indian and South Atlantic Ocean regions.

The enhanced service strengthens the reach of SpeedCast’s network in these two key shipping regions, utilizing multiple satellite footprints, and now completes the VSAT coverage for all major maritime routes.

SpeedCast has seen a sharp increase in the demand for its maritime services across the transatlantic route from Africa to South America and across the Indian Ocean.

The new coverage of the two heavily traversed routes is provided via three satellites which enable increased availability, uptime and resiliency; and further improve the user experience for all of SpeedCast’s maritime customers operating in the regions.
