NETGEAR, a networking company that serves consumers, businesses and service providers, has introduced two new cable modem routers to its cable products family.

Sandeep Harpalani, NETGEAR’s director of product marketing for retail networking products said, “NETGEAR believes in offering a broad range of technology options for your home network so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. To that end, we are expanding our portfolio of cable products to meet the requirements of the fast-growing cable Internet market.”

The cable modems, the N600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router (C3700) and the N300 Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router (C3000), are both two-in-one devices. They incorporate a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for faster Internet access and an N300/N600 high-speed 802.11n Wi-Fi router within the same device.

The modems help simplify installation and management as they support the NETGEAR genie app. The devices help deliver smoother streaming of HD videos, movies and music besides more responsive online gaming and faster file downloads. Cable providers are now providing faster broadband speeds without the monthly modem rental fees.

A DOCSIS 3.0 8x4 cable modem is capable of delivering download speeds up to 340 Mbps. Both of the two new cable modems are able to support eight download and four upload channels simultaneously. This optimizes HD video streaming enabling fast downloads and high-speed online gaming, said officials. DOCSIS 3.0 or data over cable services interface specification (DOCSIS) helps cable operators to offer greater data speeds for home installations.

“Our new cable modem routers integrate the latest DOCSIS 3.0 cable technology with the superior ease-of-use capabilities that you’ve come to expect in NETGEAR routers, thanks to the NETGEAR genie app. By owning one of our new cable modem routers, you have an easy option for avoiding your cable provider’s monthly modem leasing fee,” Harpalani added.

Recently NETGEAR launched an unlocked 3G USB modems/dongles in the Indian market. Its features include plug and play connection to access 3G in two high speed modes, 7.2Mbps and 21.6 Mbps. It would double as USB storage and supports up to 32GB MicroSD Memory card. It also has NETGEAR Aircard Mobile Broadband Genie that offers device management via a user friendly interface to connect, monitor and control the device.
