Hughes Network Systems (News - Alert), a company that offers broadband satellite solutions and services, recently announced that its HX90 broadband satellite terminals have been selected by SSL Digital (Satellite Store Link) to deliver digital video and signage content to Banorte - Ixe, the third largest bank in Mexico. Also, Hughes will provide local technical support from its Mexico City office.

HX90 makes it possible for operators to provide cost-effective satellite broadband services over Ku- and Ka-band networks. Supporting up to 60 Mbps of multicast traffic throughput, 45 Mbps of UDP (News - Alert) throughput or 15 Mbps of TCP throughput, the satellite terminal delivers exceptional performance. In addition, the HX90 includes the full suite of HX System Quality of Service (QoS) features which enable operators to tailor service plans to meet the needs of the most rigorous end users. Company officials said that terminals will be installed at more than 1,300 Banorte Ixe branches plus corporate buildings.

"Research shows that digital signage in banks influences customer purchase behavior, driving demand for new services such as online bill paying, direct deposit, and new mortgages or refinancing," said Nick Marzella, vice president of Latin America sales at Hughes. "We are honored that SSL Digital has expanded its HX System in order to deliver this critical content to its most prestigious banking customer in Mexico.

In related news, Hughes recently announced that it signed a contract to supply Kazteleradio Corporation, Kazakhstan’s national broadcasting operator, with a comprehensive HX broadband satellite solution to monitor and control the country’s national digital terrestrial DVB-T2 Standard television network.
