Comcast Corporation Welcomes Rebecca Arbogast to the Management Team

Comcast (News - Alert) Corporation, one of the world’s premier media, entertainment and communications companies, recently appointed Rebecca Arbogast as vice president for Global Public Policy, effective September 19, 2011.

Currently, Arbogast serves as a Managing Director at Stifel Financial where she focuses on legal and regulatory issues affecting communications, media, and technology industries.

In her new role, Arbogast will oversee the development and coordination of the company’s public policy efforts across the corporation. Located in Comcast’s government affairs office in Washington, DC, Arbogast will report directly to Kyle McSlarrow, president of Comcast/NBCUniversal for Washington, DC.

In a press release, McSlarrow said, “We are very pleased to welcome Rebecca Arbogast to our team. Rebecca has had a distinguished career and is widely respected for her insightful understanding of the telecommunications and media landscape from a strategic business, legal and regulatory perspective.”

In 2005, Arbogast used to work at the Stifel Nicolaus (News - Alert) Research Team when Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group was acquired by Stifel.  Arbogast joined Legg Mason in 2001 from the FCC.

While at the FCC (News - Alert), she served as chief of the International Bureau Telecommunications Division. Before joining the FCC in 1997, she served in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice, and began her legal career as a corporate attorney with Wilmer, Cutler and Pickering.

Academically, Arbogast holds a law degree from Yale Law School and a Master’s Degree from the University of Iowa. She has taught Constitutional Law at Johns Hopkins School of Public Policy and Global Communications at American University.
