Multicable to use Broadcast International's CodecSys to launch its Over-the-Top Video Programming Service

Broadcast International (News - Alert), a leading provider of video-powered broadcast solutions, recently announced in a press release that its CodecSys platform has been selected by Multicable, a leading cable and Internet Service Provider in Mexico, as the core platform to launch its Over-the-Top Video Programming Service.

With this platform, Multicable will be able to create dynamic bundles for consumers based on content and devices by streaming multiple profiles for multi-device consumption. The agreement calls for licenses based on both channel count and user access. 

“We are excited to enter this new phase of our strategic growth plan. Our investment in CodecSys generates two top-line revenue opportunities – first, new product offerings to existing customers and second, the ability to reach new customers in outlying areas. Our Internet customers will now be able to subscribe to our programs with multiple devices, including mobile phones, laptops, iPads and other smart devices. We've found that Broadcast International has the proven expertise and understanding of optimizing a video workflow from beginning to end,” said Antonio Frias, CEO of Multicable, in a press release.

Using Broadcast International’s CodecSys, Multicable will be able to expand its capacity of content to PC's and mobile devices. It presently delivers 92 channels of both linear and non-linear content through its traditional cable service.

Also, Multicable will also add video programming services such Video-On-Demand (VoD), OnDemand playback, syndicated content publishing, local news and events, and many other rich-media offerings to its already rich portfolio.

In other news, Broadcast International recently announced the appointment of Steven Ledger as a new member of its Board of Directors.Ledger is the Founder and Managing Partner at Tamalpais Partners, a principal investor in, and advisor to, emerging growth companies. Ledger has 27 years of experience as an investor in emerging technology companies. He previously served as co-founder and managing partner of eCompanies Venture Group where he managed an Internet focused, strategic venture capital fund whose investors included Sprint, Disney, Earthlink (News - Alert) and Sun America.
