Hitron Intros High Speed DOCSIS Based 3x3 Wireless Cable Gateway

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Hitron Technologies (News - Alert) Inc. has announced that it is displaying the latest DOCSIS 3.0 8x4 wireless cable gateway (CGN) with integrated four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch and Wi-Fi 802.11n 3X3 MIMO Access Point (News - Alert) at SCTE CABLE-TEC EXPO 2011.

The Hitron CGN is ideal for network and routing management with its support for TR-69, HNAP and IPv6 routing. It also enables the cable operators to switch to DSLite or 6RD for their different IPv6 deployment and transition strategies for low total cost of ownership.

Promising to deliver the speeds of up to 320Mbps (8x4) with eight bonded downstream channels over its DOCSIS interface, the new DOCSIS 3.0 8x4 wireless cable gateway includes four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch.

Todd Babic, chief sales and marketing officer said that they are building on their success with tier one European and Asian cable operators and this is an exciting time for Hitron Technologies as they enter the North American market.

“Leveraging in-house hardware/software design and manufacturing puts Hitron in a unique competitive position. Our customers' competitive landscape is more dynamic than ever. With Hitron's resources, we can deliver first-to-market products, like the CGN, which will be critical for our ongoing success as well as our valued MSO customers,” Babic added.

The company claims that CGN is first of its kind with 3X3 MIMO Access Point to offer fast and easy home networking and it provides both higher short range bandwidth, as well as faster speeds at longer ranges while covering larger areas more fully than current solutions. The CGN supports pre-configured and pre-enabled Wi-Fi security via Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), allowing the end-user to rapidly set up a secure wireless network without manual configuration.

In other news, Hitron Technologies Inc. recently selected the MaxLinear's MxL261 digital cable multi-channel tuner-demodulator single-chip front end IC for a new line of DOCSIS 3.0 related modems, EMTAs and gateways for European cable markets.

Hitron's CDA-30360 modem recently achieved certification from CableLabs (News - Alert) and the CVE-30360 Voice & Data Wireless Gateway as well as the CDE-30364 Data Wireless Gateway recently achieved EuroDOCSIS certification from CableEuropeLabs in Europe.
