By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor

To the delight of sci-fi and horror movie-lovers, the all-new classic science-fiction, horror, and fantasy IPTV (News - Alert) network Odyssey Network Television is coming to FilmOn network this January.

According to a press release, Odyssey Network Television is scheduled for a launch on the FilmOn service on January 1, 2012 with a 24-hour “One Step Beyond” marathon. The network will be available at FilmOn.com around the world on TV via popular set-top devices, as well as on Android (News - Alert), iPhone, iPad handheld devices.

Odyssey is a division of the Ephrata-based Carvell Company, a media development company headed by Kevin Carvell, a renowned actor and scriptwriter.

FilmOn.com pioneered the IP based Global TV Everywhere cable service. The network currently offers more than 100 linear TV channels and a vast VOD library just at $7.95/month. And some channels are available for free. This device agnostic service can be accessed by computers, iPads/tablets, smart phones and IP-connected devices such as Roku, Boxee (News - Alert), LookeeTV and more.

The Odyssey IP TV network has been conceived as a cross between Sci Fi Channel of 20 years ago and TCM, Carvell noted in a statement. The subscribers of Odyssey will get to enjoy a variety of well-known and some lesser-known movies and television series starring Jack Nicholson, Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr., Jack Palance, James Earl Jones, Mark Hamill, Bill Paxton, Brandon Lee, Robert Patrick, and many more.

In addition, subscribers will have the opportunity to catch some classics from the stable of such master filmmakers like Roger Corman and George A. Romero.

“Think of Odyssey as a cross between Sci Fi Channel of 20 years ago and TCM,” said Carvell. “We're excited to bring this kind of channel to this relatively new frontier of IPTV.”

Subscribers will be able to gather program updates from OdysseyNetwork.tv, the channel's official website. The website is going to regularly feature highlights of the month's programming, a rundown of upcoming genre conventions, and shopping.

One of the interesting features of the website is that it is going to feature a spotlight on Living Legends, where one can actually hire a celebrity for your next event.

Earlier, FilmOn.com partnered with the entire US Broadcast & Cable TV Universe to stream FilmOn Content to traditional and online Pay Per View Markets.
