Psiber Data Systems Inc., a provider of network test, monitoring and certification solutions for improved performance, maintenance and deployment of networks and applications, has announced the release of WireXpert, fast and powerful cable certification system designed for measuring high-performance cabling installations. Leveraging WireXpert, contractors and network managers will now be able to certify high-performance cabling installations to 40GHz and higher data rates with an advanced in-the-field testing alternative.

WireXpert, ideal for use in the field, is a hand-held touch-screen device capable of measuring cables and connections up to 1600 megahertz (MHz). Currently, it is the only cable tester capable of surpassing 1000 MHz of broadband measurement functionality and is the only tester which has been approved for testing Category 7A cabling solutions. WireXpert, which is priced at less than $10,000, has already been approved by leading cable and manufacturing experts for the various levels of testing because of its ability to deliver field testing performance that matches the capabilities of a $100,000 lab-based testing equipment.

As the number of cables and connectors for supporting advanced networks goes up, the need for ascertaining their performance in the field becomes critical. In the event that there is a cable performance issue, it is the installation contractor and the cable and connector manufacturer who will be held responsible. By leveraging WireXpert, the customer, manufacturer, and the contractor can easily certify the capability of the high-performance cable installation to function within the required level. 

Psiber Data Systems President and CEO Darrell Johnson explained that WireXpert is a one of its kind cable testing solution capable of addressing the 1600 MHz industry standard. It is also the only cable tester which is capable of delivering over and above the accuracy requirements of the class IEC (News - Alert) 61935-1 (2nd Edition) Level IV cable testers, which need an accuracy of up to 600 MHz. Even in an extended measurement range, the Category 6A certification test time is 8 seconds while the test time for Category 7/7A is 14 seconds.

WireXpert has been designed with a Dual Control System (DCS) which utilizes two identical main units that effectively reduce manpower requirements which means a cable can be tested and certified by a single person easily.
