LIN TV Reaches Retransmission Agreement with Comcast Corporation

LIN TV Corporation, a local television and digital media company, has entered into an agreement with Comcast (News - Alert) Corporation for the retransmission of LIN TV’s broadcast television stations’ analog and digital signals.
 
The agreement covers broadcast television stations owned and/or operated by LIN TV in 15 markets served by Comcast.
 
Comcast Corporation is a provider of entertainment, information and communications products and services.
 
With 24.7 million cable customers, 14.1 million high-speed Internet customers, and 5.2 million voice customers, Comcast is principally involved in the development, management and operation of broadband cable systems and in the delivery of programming content.
 
Comcast's content networks and investments include E! Entertainment Television, Style Network, The Golf Channel, VERSUS, G4, PBS KIDS Sprout (News - Alert), TV One, ten Comcast SportsNet networks and Comcast Interactive Media, which develops and operates Comcast's Internet business.
 
Comcast also has a majority ownership in Comcast-Spectacor, whose major holdings include the Philadelphia Flyers NHL hockey team, the Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball team and two large multipurpose arenas in Philadelphia.
 
The retransmission agreement among others includes: KRQE-TV, KASA-TV, KBIM-TV and KREZ-TV (Albuquerque); WIVB-TV and WNLO-TV (Buffalo); WDTN-TV (Dayton); WANE-TV (Ft. Wayne); WOOD-TV, WOTV-TV, WXSP-CA (News - Alert) (Grand Rapids); WLUK-TV (Green Bay); WTNH-TV and WCTX-TV (Hartford-New Haven).
In addition, LIN TV and Comcast will work together to build awareness of the February 17, 2009 digital broadcast transition in the Indianapolis, Hartford, Springfield, Albuquerque and Grand Rapids DMAs.
 
“We are delighted to have reached this mutually beneficial agreement with Comcast. Now that we have a solid long-term carriage agreement in place, we can work on broadening and deepening our relationship to meet the new complexities of the digital world we cohabit,” said Vincent Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV Corporation.
 
“The consumer deserves and will demand nothing less,” added Sadusky.
 
LIN TV Corporation, along with its subsidiaries, is a local television and digital media company, owning and/or operating 29 television stations in 17 U.S. markets, all of which are affiliated with a national broadcast network.
 
LIN TV’s highly-rated stations deliver important local news and community stories, along with top-rated sports and entertainment programming, to 9 percent of U.S. television homes, reaching an average of 10 million households per week.
 
LIN TV is also into the convergence of local broadcast television and the Internet through its television station web sites and a growing number of local online innovations that reach 15 percent of U.S. broadband households.
