Blueslice and Cisco Team on IMS Solution

By Vinti Vaid, TMCnet Contributor

Blueslice Networks, a provider of mobile network equipment for telecom providers, will partner with Cisco (News - Alert) in the implementation of its new IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution, HSS 3000.

The solution is designed to enable network operators seamlessly transition from legacy HLR to HSS environments.

The HSS 3000 from Blueslice (News - Alert) serves as a single platform that provides access to IMS services from multiple network types. The solution enables the integration of HLR/AuC functions with a next-generation HSS into a multi-profile, converged database for GSM/GPRS and 3G along with any network providing access to IMS services, such as WiMAX and cable/DSL.

Bluesclice announced that HSS 3000 has been tested with interoperability with Cisco’s IMS softswitch, the Broadband Telephony Service, and provides Cisco with an end-to-end solution including subscriber management.

“This joint IMS solution comes at a strategic moment in our industry where companies like Cisco and Blueslice can propose best-of-breed, value-driven IMS, and customers are buying into to this new value chain,” said Stephan Ouaknine, Blueslice president and CEO.

Partnership of the two companies is expected to create new opportunities for network operators in the fixed and mobile markets.

“The systems certification with Blueslice’s HSS 3000 gives us a go-to-market strategy with an end-to-end solution,” said Tony Jeffs, Cisco’s director of marketing at the services and mobility business unit, in a statement. “This is an exciting opportunity for operators to improve the end user experience while providing operational efficiencies and investment optimization.”
