ARRIS Debuts Optical Passives in 1GHz CHP CORWave System

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

ARRIS announced that it has introduced new ergonomically designed optical passives in the OM4100 node fiber tray and field splice enclosure packages in the 1GHz CHP CORWave system.

ARRIS is a communications technology company involved in the design, engineering and supply of technology which can offer support to triple- and quad-play broadband services required by residential and business customers throughout the world.

The company explained that the new ARRIS optical passives will allow plug and play features in multiple wavelength systems capable of reducing deployment time besides being with minimum service interruption.

The ARRIS CHP CORWave 1 GHz system along with the enhancement in the CORWave passives technology has been put to qualification testing. It has also been deployed in many large North American MSOs besides for a well known service provider in Europe.

CHP CORWave solution passives have been specially designed to include features such as facilitating fast segmentation with no need for expensive fiber construction. It can be installed with ease and does not require any special equipment or fission splices.

The solution offers optimum isolation and low insertion loss over the operating temperature range. It also allows pay-as-you-grow upgrades which can be achieved by adding or installing more receivers and transmitters as and when required.

The test point of CORWave passives is suitable for use for measuring optical power on forward and reverse wavelengths besides being used as an injection point to perform inspection, certification, trouble-shooting and documentation of fiber cabling.

Operators can save a lot in time and money employing this single easy-to-use capability. This is most useful during the diagnosing of fiber cabling problems which may lead to network performance issues.

Broadband operators the world over make use of ARRIS tools and platforms when required to deliver reliable telephony, demand driven video, next-generation advertising and high-speed data services. ARRIS supplies products which enable fast growth in network capacity with access besides with outside plant construction equipment. It ensures reliable delivery of voice, video and data services to customers.
