By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Cedar Point (News - Alert) Communications, a provider of integrated VoIP switching technologies for service providers and enterprise telecommunications operators, has announced that it is showing new business and residential capabilities that will enable cable operators to generate new revenues at Cable-Tec Expo this week in Philadelphia.

The company’s booth at the Pennsylvania Convention Center will feature the advanced residential features such as High Definition (HD) voice and hosted business service features to the small and medium business (SMB) market, including such presence applications as find-me-follow-me and click to call.

Cedar Point will also be showing SAFARIPortal, a business service application that is designed to simplify the customization process of services for telecommunications providers, SMB customers and end users that provides the ability to change or modify services and calling plans.

"Cable operators worldwide have recognized the competitive nature of the residential and commercial markets. In response to this they have begun to evaluate and deploy advanced services like HD voice, find-me-follow-me, and a web portal," said J.C. Murphy, president and CEO for Cedar Point Communications (News - Alert).

"At Cable-Tec Expo, we are showing operators how they can leverage the capabilities of SAFARI C3 (News - Alert) to cost-effectively deploy advanced VoIP services to both business and residential customers,” added Murphy.

Three members of the Cedar Point team will also be speaking at Cable-Tec. Mark Tubinis, CTO, will be participating on a panel entitled "Big Bang (News - Alert) or More Pragmatic Evolution? Practical Migration Strategies to PacketCable 2.0." The panel is set to be held on Thursday, June 26 at 11:00AM and Friday, June 27 at 1:30PM.

Chris Gugger, senior director, Market Development, will be speaking on the topic of "MSO Considerations for Delivering Business Services" on Thursday, June 26 at 9:30AM and Friday, June 27 at 1:35PM.

Pete Quigley, Senior Director of Advanced Development will be co-presenting "A Comparative Overview of PacketCable 2.0, IMS and TISPAN" on Tuesday, June 24, at 1:00PM and 2:45PM.

As a company, Cedar Point has shipped more than four million SAFARI C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. The C3 offering supports as many as 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space. As such, it incorporates all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure and delivering the best total cost of ownership available.

In the intensely competitive area of telecommunications, service providers continue to search for new ways in which to drive additional streams of revenue. Those vendors that can deliver such solutions will be able to drive their own demand in the industry, as well as market share growth. The need for such solutions will continue to grow, helping to create additional opportunities throughout the world for Cedar Point Communications.
