German MSO KDG Renews Commitment to ARRIS C4 CMTS Platform

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

ARRIS has reached an agreement with Germany's largest cable operator, Kabel Deutschland GmbH (KDG), to supply a substantial volume of ARRIS C4 CMTS during KDG's current fiscal year.

KDG has successfully deployed the C4 CMTS platform throughout its franchise areas since 2007 to offer High-Speed Data and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony service to its customers.

"We are very pleased with the performance and reliability of the ARRIS C4 CMTS platform and its ease of migration to DOCSIS 3.0 capability," said Lorenz Glatz, KDG CTO.

"The C4 CMTSs density, scalability and all-component redundancy and the reliability of ARRIS are among the reasons we have decided to increase our deployment of their CMTS platform,” added Glatz.

Kabel Deutschland (KDG) operates cable networks in 13 German states and supplies its services to approximately nine million connected TV households in Germany.

Kabel Deutschland develops and markets new triple play offers for digital TV, high-speed Internet and telephone connection via cable. KDG offers an open digital TV platform for all program providers.

The company operates the networks, markets cable connections and provides comprehensive services for all matters of cable connectivity.

In fiscal year 2006/2007 (12 months ended March 31, 2007) Kabel Deutschland reported a total revenue of approximately EUR 1.1 billion.

"We are honored to be working with KDG and are fully committed to continue supporting KDG's growth and expansion of service offerings," said Claudio Cerioli, ARRIS senior vice president for Europe. "The ARRIS C4 CMTS investment provides KDG with a platform that meets their ongoing growth requirements."
