ENENSYS Develops Pocket Field Tester Analyzer for Chinese Digital Terrestrial TV

By Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributor

ENENSYS, a manufacturer of Digital TV transmission systems design has introduced DiviCatch RF-DTMB, a pocket analyzer for live DTMB streams. The compact device, self-powered through USB, is designed for broadcasters, R&D labs or Set-Top Boxes manufacturers working with the Chinese Digital Terrestrial TV.

The DiviCatch RF-DTMB is essentially a test equipment capable of tuning a DTMB modulated signal and performing analysis at RF, modulation and transport levels.

The software coupled with the device provides full real-time analysis for critical RF measurements and MPEG2-TS validation, including ETR290.

With the GPS option, end-users can perform advanced coverage testing, by performing a recording of all key RF parameters synchronized with GPS coordinates, time and speed. Exporting the log output to a cartographic application such as Google (News - Alert) Earth achieves a complete map of the network coverage.

Self-powered through USB2.0, DiviCatch RF-DTMB is very compact, achieving a highly cost-effective test solution for field, lab or head-end applications. Designed specifically for DTMB broadcast, the device is fully compliant with the Chinese GB20600-2006 standard.

RF analysis provides real-time information on all critical transmission parameters. Also, MPEG2-TS analysis outputs useful real-time information on bitrates and PSI/SI signaling. ETR290 validation scheme is also implemented to provide users with stream compliance elements. Specific to the Chinese DTTV standard (GB20600-2006), SIP packets used to synchronize SFN transmitters are also decoded for in-depth testing.
